About Ben
A strong believer in the prophetic voice of music and the arts, Ben is passionate about beautiful worship, training choristers of all ages, and promoting the organ and its music. He currently serves as Minister of Music at Saint George’s Episcopal Church, Arlington, Virginia. During his sixteen-year tenure, the church’s music ministry has grown significantly to include a graded choir ministry affiliated with the Royal School of Church Music, an Artist-in-Residence program, monthly Evensong , as well as a concert series. The church treasures its partnerships with local music organizations to present concerts and educational opportunities for the community at large. In the Fall of 2021, Saint George’s welcome a new world-class organ by Martin Pasi (Op. 28).
Under Ben’s direction the Saint George’s Choir and Choristers have grown significantly in size and skill. The choirs held choral residencies at Lincoln and Gloucester Cathedrals (UK), and have sung Evensong at Sheffield Cathedral (UK) and the National Cathedral (USA), among other sacred spaces in England and America.
In service to the wider church, Ben has served as course manager for the Royal School of Church Music (RSCM) Washington D.C. Course for Advanced Choristers, taught with the Potomac Organ Institute, and is past Dean of the Northern Virginia Chapter of the American Guild of Organists. He is a frequent music ministry consultant for churches and dioceses on organ projects and music ministry development. He has served as Adjunct Professor of Church Music at Virginia Theological Seminary.
Ben received his undergraduate education from Luther College, Decorah, Iowa, and the Master of Music and Doctor of Musical Arts degrees in Church Music from the University of Kansas, Lawrence, Kansas. Ben is married to the Reverend Meredith Lovell Keseley, Senior Pastor at Abiding Presence Lutheran Church in Burke, Virginia. When not at church, they enjoy traveling, the outdoors, renovating their home, exploring good food and drink, and chauffeuring their two dancing daughters.

Dr. Keseley maintains a private studio of organ and conducting students of all ages (elementary to adult) from the Washington, D.C. area. His studio is located in Arlington at Saint George’s Episcopal Church where students have lessons on the church’s world-class Martin Pasi Op. 28, II/37 rank mechanical action pipe organ (2021).
Weekly and bi-weekly lessons are available, as well as individual coaching sessions.

Dr. Keseley has consulted with numerous churches on organ projects, developing music ministries and choral programs.
